BIOGRAPHY
Arlen Specter is a former US Senator from Pennsylvania. Specter was a Democrat, but joined the Republican Party from 1965 to 2009. On April 28, 2009, Specter surprised the public by announcing that, after 44 years was elected as a Republican, he switched to the Democratic Party membership First elected in 1980, he representing his country for thirty years in the Senate. Specter is a lurking place in the moderate political center.
Arlen Specter Born February 12, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas, from Russian immigrants and Harry Lillie Shanin Specter. The youngest of four children studying at the University of Oklahoma. He then moved to the University of Pennsylvania, where he became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He majored in International Relations, and graduated in 1951. After receiving a bachelor's degree, Specter joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War, 1951-1953.
Upon their return from the task of defending the nation, Specter entered Yale Law School to study law. During his tenure in the Senate, Specter of Pennsylvania and the economic struggle are active in foreign affairs, met with dozens of world leaders as well as supporting the allocation to fight HIV / AIDS pandemic globally and supports the free trade agreement between the US and developing countries.
She was diagnosed with stage IVB Hodgkin's disease in 2005 but continued to work full-time in the Senate and is now in good health. He wrote a book on Experience, Never Give In: Battling Cancer in the Senate. Another book was never released Specter, Passion for Truth: From Finding JFK's Single Bullet to Questioning Anita Hill to impeaching Clinton, and wrote a number of articles of law during his career.
